Hi Isha The Reason 3 Years is Mentioned by the college On Your I20 is to compensate that, if you fail to maintain a 3.0 Gpa , you'd Have an Extra year to make up instead having to do Extra extension paperwork for your I20 for Program Duration and What You Have Done Is Mentioned the Correct Duration i.e. 2 years. Most of 18 Month Courses are to be mentioned as 2 Years only so that it Compensates Colleges which Offers Co-Op Which Further Pushes the Graduation of One by 6 Months or more , So that as Whole Comes Up to be 24Months . But Even Though Your I20 has Program Duration mentioned as 3Years, Your Stem OPT Starts from the Day You Graduate i.e. You'll Have 90 days to get a Job to Trigger F-1 OPT . Hope This Helps.
