Can anyone help with list of Safe, Moderate and Ambitious Universities?

Safe - ASU, UCSB(sort of), UFL..
Moderate - UMCP, UCSD(can be ambitious too), USC(can be safe), Gatech ....
Ambitious - Columbia, NYU, TAMU, UTA, UCLA Cornell, UMich...

If you don't mess up with your SoPs and LoRs, yes. Gatech, UCSD are somewhat your potential universities.

Coz average GRE score for these universities is around 325, I think. So based on that I classified them as moderate-ambitious.

You have above 70%. Isn't it tough to score in Pune University? I know this coz people here keep telling that. All I mean is you really have a chance. You  won't know until you try. Understood?

@rahul, it's debatable. There isn't any exact marking as this is safe and this isn't. One of seniors got reject from UTD and got into Gatech. 326 was his GRE score. UTD was supposed to be safe, but he got rejected from there :P

Between ambitious-moderate. Coz last year I have seen here people with 328 getting rejected by W-M, and 322 with work experience getting in there. W-M sends out the results to all at once. You can try, no harm in that. But don't apply for too many ambitious.

@tulsi, again it's debatable. Moderate-Ambitious. Before in the state of Texas, UT Austin was preferred over TAMU. Now TAMU and UTA are equally preferred. So my guess is that in this season TAMU would maintain average GRE score of around 328ish. If his profile 2 years back, TAMU was leaning to moderate but now it's leaning to ambitious. It's not like you can't get into TAMU now, you'll never know unless you try.
