Master's

To apply for the September intake in the UK, most MS programs require a relevant bachelor's degree with at least 60% marks, an IELTS score of 6.5, and, for some courses, a GMAT or GRE score.

Academic Requirements

• Bachelor's degree: A recognised 3-4 year bachelor's degree in a related subject. Most universities require 60% (roughly a UK 2:1), top universities prefer 65% to 70%, while some mid-ranked universities may accept around 55% (roughly a UK 2:2).
• Work experience: MBA and management programs expect 1 to 2 years of relevant professional experience.

English Language Requirements

• IELTS: 6.5 to 7.0 overall. Most universities require 6.5, with no band below 6.0, while competitive programs ask for 7.0.
• TOEFL iBT: 80 to 100. Most universities accept scores in this range, although top universities expect 92 to 100.
• PTE Academic: 60 to 64. This is the typical score range accepted by most UK universities.

Standardised Test Requirements

• GMAT: 600 to 700. Many business schools now accept the GMAT Focus Edition, with competitive applicants scoring within this range.
• GRE: 315 to 325. A score in this range is considered competitive, especially with a strong Quantitative score.

Personal Statement (SOP)

• Step 1: Shortlist courses that are still open: Focus on universities and Master's programs that are still accepting applications for the September 2026 intake, as many close during the summer.
• Step 2: Check the eligibility requirements and arrange your finances: Confirm that you meet the academic, English language, and any course-specific test requirements. At the same time, start arranging your finances, as you will later need to show proof of funds for your tuition fees and living expenses.
• Step 3: Prepare and customise your application documents: Keep your transcripts, degree certificate, English test score, passport, CV, and 2 LORs ready. Write a separate SOP for each university and mention specific modules, faculty, or opportunities.
• Step 4: Submit your application: Create an account on the university's application portal, complete the application form, upload the required documents, and pay the application fee. Since each university has its own portal, you must submit a separate application for every course.
• Step 5: Accept your offer and pay the tuition deposit: If you receive an offer, respond within the given deadline. Complete any remaining admission conditions and pay the required tuition deposit to confirm your seat. 
• Step 6: Receive your CAS and apply for your student visa: Once your offer becomes unconditional, the university will issue your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). You will need this document to apply for your UK Student visa. 

After you receive your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies), you can apply for your UK Student visa. Along with your CAS, you must meet the financial and document requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).

• Timeline: You can apply up to 6 months before your course starts. Standard visa processing takes around 3 weeks after your biometrics appointment.
• CAS letter: Your university will issue your CAS after you accept your offer and meet the admission conditions. You cannot apply for a UK Student visa without it.
• Financial proof: Keep evidence of your first-year tuition fees and required living expenses ready before applying, as UKVI may ask for financial documents.
• Credibility interview: Some applicants may be invited for a UKVI credibility interview to discuss their course choice, funding, and study plans.
• DER Note: Indian students are not covered under the UK's Differential Evidence Requirement (DER). Unlike applicants from the US and many EU countries, they are required to submit full financial and academic evidence with their visa application.

For most Indian students, a one-year Master's costs ₹32 lakh to ₹65 lakh, including tuition and living expenses, while MBA programs at top business schools can cost more.

• Top-ranked universities (Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL, LSE): Tuition fees range from £30,000 to £45,000 (₹39 lakh to ₹58.5 lakh) per year. Elite MBA programs can cost £90,000+ (₹1.2 crore).

• Living in major cities (Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds): Around £1,100 to £1,200 per month (₹1.43 lakh to ₹1.56 lakh) or £12,000 to £14,000 per year (₹15.6 lakh to ₹18.2 lakh).
• Living in smaller cities (Sheffield, Nottingham, Coventry, Newcastle): Around £900 to £1,100 per month (₹1.17 lakh to ₹1.43 lakh) or £10,000 to £12,000 per year (₹13 lakh to ₹15.6 lakh).
• Upfront visa costs: Budget for the UK Student visa fee of £558 (₹72,500) and the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) of £776 (₹1 lakh) for each year of study, both payable when you submit your visa application.
