In its initial years after establishment, the University of Alabama was a very small campus. However, subsequently, as the number of students increased, the university started incorporating new courses and disciplines which resulted in the massive expansion of the campus. As on date, this university stands on a sprawling campus of almost 2000 acres of land. The main campus centers around the Quad where you will come across various academic buildings constructed in cluster form. These academic buildings include the physics, math, astronomy, psychology, engineering etc. The university campus is complete with the Rodgers library which houses wide variety of books, journals, magazines of diverse disciplines which students can read. Besides this, the campus also houses few museums like the Alabama Museum of Natural History, the Paul. W. Moody Music Building, UA Opera Theatre etc to name a few.
Besides academic buildings and all other facilities required by students, the university also provides students with accommodation facilities both on as well as off campus. Particularly off campus, the university helps students find decent places away from the university as per their requirements and within the budget the students have. Some of the areas in which these apartments are, are Timberlane, Brooksmith, University Downs Apartments, River Road Apartment Park, the Avenue at Tuscaloosa etc. All these apartments range between single bedroom to five bedrooms which the students can share along with some other students or friends and are well equipped with all facilities. On an average, the cost of such accommodations is in the range of $500.
