How to Apply at University of Ottawa

On campus accomodation

There are multiple options for accommodation on campus for students of the university. These residences are 45 Mann, Annex, Hyman-Soloway, 90U, Stanton, Marchand, Henderson, LeBlanc, Friel, Rideu and Thompson. Applications for accommodation are taken on a first come first served basis. Residence is also guaranteed to first year students who are in a full time undergraduate course in the fall term and have submitted their residency application and fee before the deadline. Students admitted directly into the second year are also guaranteed housing. 

There are various accommodation options present as mentioned above. 90U has suites while the Friel residence has suites along with studios for students. LeBlanc, Stanton, Thompson and Marchand are the basic community style halls. Hyman Soloway, Annex and 45 Mann have an apartment styled housing where accommodation for the whole year is also offered for students who want to stay on the campus for more than a year. The University of Ottawa campus also has independent houses for senior students who have already completed two years at the university.

Opportunities

Research opportunities at university

The University of Ottawa encourages research. The International Research and Experiential Learning (IREX) helps the researchers at the university to address and study the challenges in the world with the help of leading national as well international partners. There are various programs for research such as the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program where part time opportunities are provided to senior undergraduate students. Funding is provided as well through funds such as the France Canada research fund for collaborations between France and Canada and uOttawa-Mitacs international research training award which funds graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and senior undergraduate students for 12 to 24 weeks of research projects.


Internship opportunities (Part time job opportunities)

There are various opportunities for interested candidates such as the Student Internship program for the students from the School of Human Kinetics. There are internships available at the Centre for Psychological Services and Research. Students with at least two years knowledge in clinical psychology and a minimum of 400 hours of direct service are eligible here. There are also marketing, retail, community engagement and journalism internships. 


Placement - Companies and average salaries offered

The university has a very good career centre for getting appropriate placements for its students. Information on Job postings, and volunteering offers is provided and career coaching, mock interviews and resume writing are all practised here. The application fee for UG programs is 90 CAD and for PG programs is 110 CAD. 

2. Are there any scholarships available?
Some of the scholarships are our president scholarship valued for students scoring over 92%, Chancellor scholarship for candidates with an excellent record and tuition fee exemption scholarship. 

3. How much should be the minimum GPA for securing admission in this university?
A minimum GPA Of 3.0- 83-86% is required. The average GPA score of selected candidates in 2022 was 3.11 or higher. 

4. What is the acceptance rate of the University of Ottawa? 
The acceptance rate is 12% making it challenging to get admission here.
