Transportation in the city

  • RTA BUS

The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA) runs 31 public bus routes throughout the Dayton metro area seven days a week, 21 hours a day. Among those buses are a handful of electric trolleys, part of the second longest-running trolley system in the U.S. 

  • LINK BICYCLE SHARE

Dayton’s bike share program, LINK, has stations around the city, including several on the University of Dayton campus. LINK has flexible payment options—sign up for 24 hours, or a whole year— at reasonable prices.

  •  ZIPCAR

This car-sharing company has a location on the University of Dayton campus and lets approved members use cars for an hour, a day, or even a week at student rates. You’ll need a U.S. driver’s license.

The University Libraries are committed to offering top-notch collections, services, and places to fulfill the requirements of students, professors, and staff. The University of Dayton has a group of board-certified primary care doctors and registered nurses at Gosiger Hall. All UD students are required to obtain health insurance, and international students must yearly provide evidence of coverage through the student portal.


Student life

On around 388 acres at the edge of the city of Dayton, there sits the campus of the University of Dayton. The Historic Campus, Campus West, River Campus, and Arena Sports Complex are its four distinct components. The campus consists of 473 homes, 18 student residential complexes, and 38 instructional, research, sporting, and administrative facilities (347 of which are owned by the university).

  • Sports

At UD, club sports and intramurals are popular, and over 60% of our students participate in them. Our students participate in a huge range of sports, including dodgeball, and field hundreds of teams in everything from volleyball to lacrosse, ice hockey to ultimate frisbee.

Every first-year undergraduate student is a part of a learning-living community, which gives you the ability to interact with your roommates in shared classrooms and extracurricular activities. You'll eventually relocate to a home, apartment, or suite in the student community. Additionally, the university provides unique lodging for graduate, law, and foreign students. The Housing & Meal Plan form may be filled out in Porches by new students after submitting an admission confirmation. After that, you may either use our very effective roommate matching system, which takes into account individual tastes and behaviors, or you can make a roommate group and ask for a certain roommate. No matter when the housing and meal plan form is submitted, housing is assured and assigned in each hall.
