The Swinburne University of Technology is located in the John Street in Hawthorn Victoria, Melbourne, between the Burwood Road and the Liddiard Street. Its setting is the city, therefore, it is surrounded by a lot of great stores and restaurants like Woolworths Hawthorn Supermarket, Surabhi Groceries, Bunnings Hawthorn, Starbucks, McDonald’s, Zen Japanese Restaurant, Okra Restaurant and others to ensure that the students have a lot to do off-campus as well.
Swinburne is spread over three campuses, the main one is the Hawthorn campus and the others are located in the Melbourne metropolitan area and another one in Sarawak, Malaysia. Hawthorn is the biggest campus with the most modern buildings surrounded by pleasant green areas and is located only 10 minutes away from the center of Melbourne. Swinburne invests a lot in their facilities to provide students the best equipment. One of the biggest investments has gone to the Design Center and the Advanced Technology Center which houses the first Smart Structure Laboratory in Australia; it also offers research facilities and teaching spaces, as well as architectural design and sustainability. The Hawthorn campus also has the Hawthorn Aquatic and Leisure Center which is the health and fitness center, the facility also has a first class health clinic on site that offers exercise physiologist, massage and physiotherapy.
Swinburne offers a variety of on-campus housing options for their Students. There are College rooms available which are private rooms with ready access to all facilities; they are dormitory-style rooms, with common dining and social areas, a vibrant residential lifestyle and they include bed, desk and chair. Swinburne also offers shared apartments, accommodating two to four people where they can choose a standard room or larger deluxe room and the apartment includes lounge with TV, a kitchen and one or two bathrooms.
