The SVAS facilities are intended to train students for careers in visual art. The hands-on, active learning at SVAS encourages a culture of inquiry, exploration, and creation. The painting facilities at SVAS comprise fifteen workshops, two of which are full-time anatomical labs and a full-time multimedia studio with theater seating.
The SVAS sculpting facility has a full wax workshop with gating and filament stations, a porcelain room with a slurry container, quartz sand terminals, frontloading software, electric utility kilns, a slab crusher, a twister, and a grinder. The SVA Bookstore has been situated at 380 Second Street in the Midtown neighborhood of Manhattan since 1978, and in 2018 the agency opened its first dedicated wing, SVA Library West, to help support our growing campus.
Both sites offer pleasant, approachable, and visually appealing venues at the university for the SVA population to rest, study and cooperate. There is no emergency care or an infirmary at SVA. If a student becomes ill, walk-in emergency facilities are located across the SVA region. Appointments are not required for critical walk-in consultations. Students can use the internet across campus to hone their abilities.

The School of Visual Arts is situated in the heart of The City Center on a 1-acre site. Just at the School of Visual Arts, students can join various clubs, organizations, and activities. There's even a campus newspaper and a radio station.
Campus Life: High-tech classrooms are available in every classroom.
Books, study halls, lounge rooms, cafés, community centers, and other amenities abound.
Sports Activities: The School of Visual Arts offers sports activities to interested students. There are numerous options in the arts. The top level of college athletics is intercollegiate athletics. It is an athletic competition that can be very competitive. The NCAA oversees intercollegiate athletics.
Teams that the university backs compete against members of other teams' Universities. Club sports are unregulated.
