How to Apply at University of Waikato

You have to create an account if you are a new user.

  • Then you can select the type of qualification, keyword, location and year. The next step is to click on the search button to find your programme and course.
  • Based on keywords, you will get a list of all the courses. Choose the ones you want to apply to and start filling out the form.
  • Once you have selected all the details, click on the apply button.
  • Fill in all the selections before reviewing and submitting your application.

Note: The University does not charge any application fees except for some courses such as DLitt, LLD and Dsc applications. The application fees for these courses are a refundable amount of NZD 500 (INR 26000).

Transportation in the city

The University of Waikato offers a variety of means of transportation both on and off-campus, such as public transport, car-pooling, cycling, regional buses, the Kaimai shuttle ,or a walk to campus.


Services offered by the university

  • The health services are available on both campuses. In Hamilton, students have access to nurses, doctors, counsellors and more. In Tauranga, children have a dedicated Student Health Nurse who can help them with their health concerns.
  • The campus also has an extensive on campus library which is accessible to students 24×7

Student life at University of Waikato

Just 1.5 hours south of Auckland, the park-like campus in Hamilton has over 12000 students and provides a vibrant student culture reflective of its deep connection to Maori culture and community.

Student Life-

  • Located in the heart of North Island, the University of Waikato is an innovative institution with a student-focused focus that makes it a great place to explore some of the best surfing and hiking spots, adventure sports, and natural wonders New Zealand has to offer.
  • The University has an on-campus gym UniRec, one of the best-equipped gyms with weights and cardio equipment, personal trainers, exercise classes, physiotherapy services, a sports hall and endless pools.

On campus accomodation at University of Waikato

Students live on-campus in  shared cottages in Orchard Park. Students have their bedrooms in a 4 or 6 person cottage with a shared kitchen, bathroom, and living and dining space. There is an Orchard Park recreation room for all residents to share in the community.

  • The University of Waikato provides an option for on-campus housing for the students studying on the Hamilton and Tauranga campuses. A student can opt for the self-catered or  full catered accommodation facilities, and the accommodation costs will vary accordingly.
  • Waikato University has four halls of residence which are the perfect place to settle, and contains three galleries with fully catered and self-catered options, and the other one is self-catered solely.
  • The Halls are close to the library, computer labs, and lecture theatres.
  • Easy access to computers, photocopiers, fax, telephone and the internet is available.
  • The rooms are regularly cleaned, fully furnished and heated.
