The University of Waikato is a comprehensive public university in Hamilton, New Zealand. It was established in 1964. Its main campus is situated at Hamilton. Campus

Location

The university operates from two campuses, Hamilton, its main campus; and Tauranga, a satellite campus. The main campus is spread over 64 hectares of landscaped gardens and lakes. The city is big and features several basic amenities you can find in many urban centers and these include extensive sporting areas, shopping malls, and other recreational areas. The landscape is open and is great with an abundance of nature. Its satellite campus is pretty nice, which shares campuses with the Bongard Centre in Tauranga's CBD and the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic at Windermere Campus.

Campus

The university has several nice infrastructures all across its campuses. The library is one of such infrastructure that the school can boast of. It houses countless numbers of published books and journals.  The surrounding is calm and neat and conducive for learning. The lecture rooms are overly large, comfortable and are fitted with various teaching aids to enhance quality learning. There several laboratories and other buildings for various academic and administrative purposes.

Residing Options

The University provides housing units for its students. It has four Halls of Residence on the main campus which are cost effective for students who are having a tight budget. The rooms are okay and comfortable. They are well furnished with the basic facilities needed for comfort. Students who prefer to live in Flatting or Homestay have various options near the University campus. These housing units are provided and managed by private owners. The university also offers two accommodation options in summers such as a Fully Catered accommodation and a Self Catered accommodation.

Faculty

The University of Waikato has a balanced faculty to student ratio 1:40, consisting of 599 academic staff and 12,229 students. The academic of the university strength is made of several professors, associate professors, senior lecturers, as well as other lecturers. The relationship between the academic staff and the students is a bit cordial and beneficial to the students.
