Established in 1881, the University of Dundee is a public research institution that has ten schools offering programs over the graduate and postgraduate levels. Transportation in the city

The two major bus operators of Dundee are Xplore Dundee and Stagecoach Strathtay. Stagecoach offers various discounts for employees on seven-day and also four-week bus tickets. The sites include the details of routes. The city is a great size and the students don't need to get public transport to go, unlike most other cities. The students can walk or cycle anywhere, and the university is close enough to nature.

  • The main campus of the university is situated in Dundee, Scotland. It contains teaching facilities such as Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Dundee Law School, and the Dundee Dental Hospital and School.
  • Various facilities are featured by the university including Perth Royal Infirmary which is home to a clinical research center, and Ninewells Hospital which also houses the school of medicine.
  • The Geddes Quadrangle of the university was named for Patrick Geddes who was a thinker in the fields of sociology and urban planning and also a former professor of botany at Dundee. Geddes had proposed a garden in the center of the quadrangle which can be used for teaching purposes.
  • There are extensions which have been placed on the main library and sports center. The Dalhousie building of the university served as dedicated teaching accommodation for the university.
  • Facilities that are available on the campus of the city include the Institute of Sports and Exercise (ISE) which is a social space that hosts events and the Global RoomDundee University Students’ Association (DUSA).
  • The city campus of the university is in the heart of Dundee with the best shops, restaurants, and bars within walking distance. There are also art galleries, theatres, sports centers, and also green spaces which are located close by. 

Student life

  • The Dundee University Students' Association is affiliated with the Coalition of Higher Education Students in Scotland and the National Postgraduate Committee. Membership of the Students' Association is for all the students of the university.
  • 43 clubs are affiliated with the Sports' Union. There is an award ceremony for the sports clubs, along with a Blues & Colours Ball (see Blue (university sport)) to provide social interaction between the clubs.
  • Dundee students can also participate in traditional events during the academic calendar. A standard British Freshers' Week is organized towards the start of the year with a secondary one which is held when the university reconvenes after the vacation of Christmas.
  • The Institute of Sport and Exercise (ISE) offers wide facilities including a gym, squash courts, 25m swimming pool, sports fields, and tennis courts.
  • ISE works with the Dundee University Sports Union and offers more than 40 sports clubs, ranging from sports like netball and golf to ultimate Frisbee.
  • DUSA supports over 250 student societies which bring groups of students who share the same interest. The students can keep up with a current hobby with the broad range of activities or they can even try something different.
