About
NSCAD University, also called the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, is a non-profit public higher education institution founded in 1887 by Anna Leonowens and it later became the first degree-granting art school in Canada. It offers courses and programs leading to some recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. The admission rate range is about 60-70%, making NASCAD quite a selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment. NSCAD ranks 80 nationally and 5392 globally.
Students have the opportunity to choose from among a number of disciplines: media arts, including film, animation, and photography; fine arts, including sculpture and painting; craft, including textiles and jewelry design; interdisciplinary design; and art history and contemporary culture. There are also master’s programs in media arts, fine arts, craft, and design.
