Uxbridge is the neighborhood in which Brunel University London is located. It was named after Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel when it was founded in 1966. Brunel College of Advanced Technology received a royal charter in June 1966 and became Brunel University.

Brunel is divided into three colleges, a structure that was implemented in August 2014, along with a name change to Brunel University London. Brunel University has around 16,150 students and 2,500 employees, divided into three Academic Colleges: Business, Arts, and Social Sciences; Engineering, Design, and Physical Sciences; and Health, Medicine, and Life Sciences.

Transportation in the city

The nearest mainline station is West Drayton (First Great Western), approximately 1.5 miles away. There is a train station at West Drayton that connects London Paddington with Bristol and other parts of the West. In Uxbridge and on campus, the U3 bus provides the most direct route, running every 10 minutes throughout the day. Several bus routes stop at the main entrance in Kingston Lane, including the U1, U2, U4, and U7. Brunel and its surrounding area are also served by a number of other bus routes.


Student life

Brunel Institution is London's largest campus-based university, with approximately 14,000 students living on site. On campus, students can join over 150 student clubs and groups to pursue their interests in a variety of subjects.
