Location

The University of West Georgia is located in Carrollton, Georgia about 80 Km’s from the lively city of Atlanta. The campus has an extensive green belt. The City of Carrollton will give you the feel of a small town. There are nice little eateries, bars and pubs where you can hang out. Moreover, there is hardly any constraint that you could feel, so explore as much as possible.

Campus

The University has renovated many of its buildings. UWG’s academic blocks are well equipped and offer a reasonably comfortable study environment. The library offers you access to over five hundred thousand volumes. Through its ginormous datacenter one can find almost all the known journals and historical documents for all sorts of research purposes. If you take a walk around the campus of the University of West Georgia you will realize that it is one of the most beautiful and safe campuses you will ever find. You can walk to everything in less than 10 minutes. The entire campus is divided into different sections like the administrative sections, halls of residences, centres and venues, places and services, athletics and recreation etc. Administrative buildings consist of all the academics related buildings like the Crider Lecture Hall, Sanford Hall which houses the Administrative Affairs, Mandeville Hall, Technology enhanced Learning Center, Education Center, Education Annex, Campus Center, Biology building, Humanities Building, Visual Arts Building, University Communications and Marketing etc. If you take a careful look around the academic or administrative buildings you will realize that the campus has dedicated research centers reserved exclusively for conducting research in diverse disciplines, libraries, lecture halls etc. Students can make use of such state of the art research facilities and enlighten themselves with extraordinary quality of education. The campus also offers a free shopper shuttle, free wifi all over campus and opportunities to explore the local region through 100’s of events and activities per year. Our international students love to participate in the annual International Festival each Spring, which began in 1987!

Residing Options

Once you are enrolled in the University, you may live on campus or off campus. Outside campus rentals can range between $500 to $1,000 per month. However, some students felt that off campus accommodation were slightly on a higher price range in comparison to their on campus accommodation.

Faculty

Academically UWG offers myriad study programs and research opportunities. Moreover, with the average student faculty ratio of 19:1 , the faculty is able to interact well and more time is devoted to discussions and group projects. The faculty members are widely recognized and erudite of their respective fields. In addition to faculty, the staff at UWG are all about student success! There are tons of support programs, tutoring, supplemental instruction and peer to peer help to make sure you stay on track academically. There is no charge for these extra services.

Jobs and placements

Located conveniently on campus is UWG’s Career Services which is responsible for organizing job fairs, job search training, interview and resume coaching for its students. All students are introduced to Career Services from day one to begin fine-tuning their job readiness skills, internships and portfolios well before graduation.
