Founded in 1972, Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour is based in Pau (department of Pyrenees-Atlantiques) and also in Bayonne,Tarbes,Anglet, and Mont-de-Marsan in the Adour river basin. The Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour( UPPA) is administratively under the Academy of Bordeaux and it is the third largest university in southwestern France.Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour( UPPA) has an enrollment of 12,000 students.The university hosts 1,700 international students and also takes part in several cross-border and also international partnerships.
The university provides Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctorates and vocational degrees programs to students through the 5 UFRs (Teaching and Research units) and two Doctoral schools. The UPPA is a multidisciplinary university that covers three main areas of study including economics, law, business, management, science, and technology, literature, arts, social sciences, humanities, and sport.
Because of the geographic situation, Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour( UPPA) is well placed to develop cross-border cooperation with Spain, by setting up the PYREN Project: IDEFI (Initiative for excellence in innovative training) which is funded by “investment for the future” from the government bursaries.
