Transportation in the city

The tramway system in Montpellier is the best mode of public transportation for getting around Montpellier, visiting many nearby tourist attractions, and generally getting to know the area from a new perspective. The tramway system is a part of the Montpellier Metropole transport network, managed by TaM. With this change, Montpellier Métropole becomes the first French metropolitan to provide its residents free public transportation. Additionally, with a population of 475,000, it is far larger than other French cities and urban areas that have free public transportation, such as Dunkirk, Châteauroux, or Aubagne.

Services offered by the university

  • Through the Erasmus+ programme, UPVM is eager to establish solid, long-lasting relationships with important partners that will be advantageous to both our students and our institutions.
  • Libraries are both physical locations with lengthy hours of operation and, in recent years, digital locations that are open around-the-clock. Once authenticated, students have access to a variety of electronic resources (periodicals, electronic books, etc.).
  • The Inter-university Library of Montpellier (BIU) is a documentation service that serves the two universities in Montpellier. The university libraries in Montpellier operate as a network. Students have the option to consult or borrow a large number of books (1.5 million in total), covering the majority of the courses taught at Montpellier's two institutions.

Student life at Paul Valéry University Montpellier 3

On the campus' many lovely lawns and gardens, plays and concerts are frequently performed. Culture is a significant aspect of student life at UPVM, it's true. It is the only university in France with both a theatre and a museum on its grounds. They are a part of the institution's 2015-opened cultural centre. The university orchestra, which includes students from the university and the Conservatoire de l'agglomération de Montpellier, is also held here.

  • The Maison des Étudiants, a hub for student activities, freedom of expression, clubs, and societies, manages student life.
  • Its goal is to enable students to open up and build a space for creation as well as cultural and campus events, enabling them to realise their own aspirations.
  • In addition to hosting conferences, movie screenings, debates, exhibitions, solidarity and cultural days, concerts, student dinners, and other events, the Maison des Étudiants and its "Jean Moulin" function room are a key hub for student life on campus.
  • While not required, not all student organisations are less active than others in participating in representative student elections. Several cultural organisations actively take part in university activities, including Asso7, ECUME, and l'Écran et son Double.
  • The "Maison des Etudiants," which is located on the north side of campus close to the Vert Bois university cafeteria, is where the associations and student unions are headquartered.

On campus accomodation at Paul Valéry University Montpellier 3

A user-friendly, cost-saving formula built on the domestic partnership created with the owner. The owner's house will provide the student with a furnished room. There may be restrictions, such as "no smoking indoors."

  • One of Montpellier's most well-liked and economical lodging options. With a flatshare, multiple people live together in one place while each one signs a rental agreement with the same landlord.
  • The residences all offer furnished, complete studios or flats, which act as a middle ground between a regular apartment and a hotel room. A receptionist is on duty all year to respond to inquiries and help with any stewardship problems. The monthly rent includes a number of services.
  • These social housing apartments, which are supervised by the CROUS (Regional Centre for University and School Resources) and reserved for students, are primarily given to French scholarship recipients. This is the most affordable type of housing for students. Foreign students who are enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral programme or who receive government grants are eligible for this accommodation option.
