Barnard College is a private institution situated in New York City, US.  It was established in 1889 and since then the college has been providing stellar liberal arts education for women. The college offers a number of Bachelor of Arts degree programs in more than 50 areas of study. These include several undergraduate programs in education, architecture, theater, dance, as well as urban studies.

Barnard College has strong ties with the Columbia University, The Jewish Theological Seminary, the Juilliard School, and the Manhattan School of Music, and which are all based in New York City. As a matter of fact, the college provides one of the best undergraduate programs in engineering, statistics, and computer science in collaboration with Columbia University.

Nationally, Barnard College is ranked by various magazines, journals, and other U.S. publications as one of the best Liberal Arts Colleges. In 2019, it was ranked 25th overall Best National Liberal Arts Colleges by the U.S. News and World Report.

Location

Barnard College is located in New York City, New York, US. Actually, New York City stands as the most populous city in the United States and one of the most populous megacities in the world. The city is very big with a massive landmass. The terrain is nice and there are several basic and modern facilities all around the city. As a matter of fact, the city has many landmarks and districts as well as three of the world's ten most visited tourist attractions in the year 2013.

Major tourist destinations in the city include the Statue of Liberty; Broadway theater productions; Times Square; the Empire State Building; Ellis Island; museums, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the United Nations Headquarters. There are a number of green spaces such as Washington Square Park as well as Central Park. Several shopping outlets are scattered across the city and these include luxury shopping along Madison and Fifth Avenues.

In addition, there are a lot of skyscrapers in the city such as Manhattan's skyline. For this reason, the city is recognized as the home to several of the tallest buildings in the world. The city has a complex park system, with various lands operated by the New York State Office of Parks, the National Park Service, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and the Recreation and Historic Preservation. More so, the city has a reliable transport system which includes Rapid transits, Rails, Buses including The Port Authority Bus Terminal, Ferries such as The Staten Island Ferry, Taxis, transport startups, and trams.

Campus

Barnard College has a good number of infrastructures within its campus. These include lecture rooms, seminar rooms, laboratories and workshop as well as other faculty buildings. In addition, there is the LeFrak Center which houses a study space, the zine collection, librarians' offices, course reserves. The college has a standard library situated in a serene environment. The Barnard Library houses a large collection of books, journals, archives, and other published materials. The library serves as a repository of several official and student photographs, publications, artworks, among others.

Residing Options

Barnard College offers a number of housing options to its students. These include the Barnard Residence Halls which consists of a number of residential styles such as the Traditional Corridor style, which features several single or multiple rooms with shared hallway bathrooms; the Modified Corridor style, which features 8-12 students per side of floor in either single or multiple rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen; as well as the Suite Style, which features 2-9 students in either single or multiple rooms with bathroom and kitchen.

Other housing options include the Jewish Theological Seminary Residence Halls as well as the BC/CU Housing Exchange.  In addition, there are several Off-Campus Housing units situated not too far from the campus.

Faculty

Barnard College has a faculty to student ratio of 1:10, comprising of about 375 academic staff and 2,360 students. The faculty strength is made of professionals who are highly skilled in their various professions. More than 60% of the staffs are women and there is an established cordial relationship between lectures and students.
