About

Located close to Lorman, Mississippi, Alcorn State University is a historically black public land-grant institution. The first Black land grant institution to be created in the United States, it was formed in 1871.

The Alcorn State University Courses are offered through its seven schools, providing more than 50 distinct academic disciplines. With about 3,700 undergraduate students and 600 graduate students, Alcorn State is the second-largest historically black higher education institution and the fifth-largest university in Mississippi.

Transportation in the city

There are shuttle services to and from regional transportation hubs (airports, train stations, and bus terminals). There is no direct link from Jackson to Alcorn State University if you are travelling by public transit. To go to Alcorn State University, though, you can take the bus to Vicksburg and then a taxi.

The current investigation is being driven by findings from the 2011 USDA Independent Assessment of Delivery of Technical and Financial Assistance Civil Rights Assessment. The Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers Policy Research Center performs literature studies on topics related to agriculture and socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers that are included in this report and other national reports.

The Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers Policy Research Center conducts research using the USDA Civil Rights Executive Summary of 2011 as its starting point. It also conducts additional research on policies, cases, and actions that address the concerns of socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers.
