Transportation in the city
The University of Twente is located in the Twente region, between the cities of Hengelo and Enschede in the eastern part of the Netherlands. The distance between the city of Enschede and the university is less than 5 miles. The campus is easily accessible by train and bus which typically lasts for 15 minutes. Alternatively, students can commute by taxi which lasts for 10 minutes.
Services offered by the university
- The University of Twente has an extensive range of classrooms and lecture rooms with flexible seating formats, technical support, and other required equipment.
- With libraries and state-of-the-art facilities, the university offers its students more than 10 modern laboratories including a tech lab, virtual reality lab, and a robotics lab, to name a few. The campus offers free internet service for students, employees, and visitors.
- The Student Services Center assists all students with admission, well-being, academics, and other student-related queries.
- For students interested in the arts, the university provides them with an audio room, sound studios, cultural rooms, and two-stage halls used for concerts and theater performances.
Student life at University of Twente
- With over 100 student associations, students can participate in a range of events covering interests like performing arts, culture, sports, business, academics, social service, and astronomy, among a few others.

On campus accomodation at University of Twente
The University of Twente offers on-campus and off-campus accommodation for all students. First-year international students who require an entry visa and/or residence permit are offered guaranteed on-campus accommodation for one year. Alternatively, students can find accommodation through Roomspot, an online housing portal for the city of Enschede. Students can either rent a room, a studio, or an apartment through three local housing providers.
De Veste is the on-campus housing provider and offers furnished and unfurnished rooms. A variety of rooms either with or without private bathroom and kitchen facilities are available. Studio flats and apartments are also equipped with private bathroom and kitchen facilities. One-room apartments have a private kitchen and shared bathroom facilities. All rooms have a personal fridge, electricity, water, gas, and wired internet connections. Rent rates range from 350 to 450 EUR (28,561 to 36,721 INR) for a room and 600 to 700 EUR (48,961 to 57,122 INR) for a two-room apartment.
