Transportation in the city

The third-largest system in North America is run by the local transportation company for the City, the Toronto Transit Commission (T.T.C.). More than 300,000 passengers per day use Union Station, Canada's biggest and busiest multi-modal transit hub, to get to their destinations. In all areas of Toronto, the Toronto Parking Authority (T.P.A.) Opened in a new window and offers convenient off-street and on-street public parking spaces as well as bicycle opportunities.

The University of New Brunswick campus is serviced by a municipal bus that travels to various parts of the city. For all students at OCAD University, bus transportation is free. Except on Sundays, buses run every day. Information will be provided about the bus service. Simply provide your student I.D. to board the free School Bus, which travels around the campus and the neighboring downtown.

The University of New Brunswick maintains a visible presence on all of the campuses and offers a comprehensive public safety program for the benefit of the university community. 

  • The University of New Brunswick Library is home to substantial collections of materials about Brunswick's history and culture, and it also serves as a venue for meetings for the state-wide digital library project at the University of New Brunswick. The instructional librarians at U.N.B. work with the faculty to assist students in gaining the knowledge and self-assurance they need to successfully navigate the ever-more complicated informational landscape. The liaison librarian can work with students to assist in incorporating information literacy goals into their curricula or offer one-time teaching sessions ranging from a simple orientation to the library to advanced sessions customized to the particular subject matter of each class.
  • The focus is on proactive patrols and crime prevention programs in addition to delivering police services. Student health initiatives and programs equip them with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions that promote overall wellness.
  • Academic achievement seminars are one of the services provided by the University of New Brunswick's Center for Student Success, which also provides tutoring, supplemental instruction, mentorship, advising, classroom instruction, and counseling. It resides in Normal Hall.

Student life

U.N.B. has two main campuses: the original campus, founded in 1785 in Fredericton, and a smaller campus that opened in Saint John in 1964.

  • Intramural sports provide students of all skill levels with access to recreational activities. It offers single, double, and team sports for participants of all sexes, including recreational athletes.
  • The Athletics Center is open to all current full-time and part-time students without a fee. Students can receive Profit from this and can start a workout routine.
  • Students from all types of courses are asked to join the Trulaske Consulting Association, a relatively new student organization.
  • The U.N.B. Psychology Society is a group of psychology students who want to spread awareness of the field among all U.N.B. students. We do this by organizing enjoyable events and sharing relevant news and opportunities on social media. 
  • Members of the Politics department and U.N.B. Students interested in politics will be able to attend events on and/or off campus that are related to political campaigns, elections, and legislative debates at all three levels of the Canadian government as well as international elections and legislation through the Politics Society at U.N.B. The Politics Society will also assist students who are interested in declaring a major in politics and provide departmental students with guidance on courses and possibilities.
  • University activities range from dancing and debating to rock climbing and scuba diving, and there is something for everyone.
  • Sports clubs provide a wide range of options for competition, instruction, and pleasure. While the level of competitiveness and time commitment required by various clubs varies, they all give students the chance to be a part of a team and represent U.N.B.!
  • Every faculty at U.N.B. provides possibilities for experiential learning. With so many options available, students will have plenty of opportunities to gain practical experience, develop their abilities, and make a difference as they learn. 
  • Students enter the institution symbolically by marching in procession through T.A., which is an excellent place for students to learn and hone their talents is U.N.B. since it places a strong emphasis on world-class teaching, outstanding research, and assisting students in achieving their academic objectives.
