The Southern Institute of Technology (SIT), is a public tertiary education institution in New Zealand. Established in 1971, SIT has grown to become one of the largest institutions of technology in the country. In 2021, it had a total enrolment of 12,579 students, with an equivalent of 4,768 full-time students (EFTs). Of these, 3,989 were domestic students and 933 were international students. 

The institution is widely recognized for its high-quality facilities and state-of-the-art equipment. This merger aimed to unify and strengthen vocational education across the country.
