The university is located in Quebec City in the province of Quebec. Quebec City is one of the biggest cities and most populated cities in Canada. It is situated in the Saint Lawrence River valley close to where it meets the St. Charles River. The geography of the region is mostly low lying and flat. A huge majority of the local residents have use French as their mother tongue. A third of the residents can speak both English and French, however learning French would be highly recommended. The city conducts an annual festival called the Quebec Winter Carnival, which brings in tourists from all around the world.

Sprawled across 1.2 km the university has over 30 buildings which are linked together by 10km of underground walkways. These walkways are regularly used during the winter when temperatures go below freezing point.
