What is an OFC appointment on a US Visa?
U.S. visa applicants will be legally required to provide biometric information. A biometric or biometric identifier is an objective measurement of a physical characteristic of an individual which, when captured in a database, can be used to verify the identity or check against other entries in the database. The best known biometric is the fingerprint, but others include facial recognition and iris scans.
There is no separate fee required to be paid for an OFC appointment. The visa fee you pay includes the OFC appointment fee as well.
The collection of your biometric information at a visa application centre includes a digital finger scan (all 10 digits). The finger scan procedure uses an electronic scanner. No ink, liquid or chemical is used. You should ensure that your fingertips are free from any forms of decoration (for example, henna), cuts, abrasions or other markings as these may affect your ability to provide acceptable finger scans. In addition, Your digital photograph will also be taken showing your full face. You cannot wear sunglasses, tinted spectacles, or a head covering unless it is worn for religious or ethical reasons.
You need to carry the below mentioned documents for OFC appointment:
- Your passport
- Appointment confirmation copy
- The stamped DS-160 form
- Visa application fee receipt
Hope this helps!
