Bank Loan Review part 1
Being a fall 2022 applicant, after spending days searching for many articles and getting 1st hand reviews, I came to the conclusion that education loan depends on many factors and the knowledge I had about finance was severely lacking. Hence, I am writing this article in the hope that it will save substantial time for the loan process for other study abroad aspirants.

1. Public National banks
In India, public national banks like SBI give non-collateral loans up to Rs. 7.5 lacs. Depending on the evaluation of the collateral, the amount of loan you can procure will be different for a collateral loan. All public national banks like Canara Bank, and Bank of Baroda have the same process to procure a collateral loan. Collateral loans in public banks offer a much better deal than other options.
Interest rates can be between 7 to 9 % for a collateral loan. Depending on the bank, female candidates may receive a 0.5 % concession on interest rates. Itβs always better to enquire with a direct question regarding this. Most public national banks require a physical hard copy of the form to be submitted. This form can be procured from the nearest bank branch. You will also be given a document checklist with it.
2. Bank of Baroda (public national bank)
The interest rate for collateral loans starts between 7 to 9 %. Female Candidates get a concession in interest of 0.5%. The maximum tenure period allowed for a non-collateral loan is 12 years. The moratorium period is 12 months after the course completion or once you are employed (whichever is earlier). The maximum loan amount is Rs. 80 lacs. The minimum processing fee is around Rs. 10,000. It is negotiable. No prepayment penalty is present.
Bring an education loan form from the Bank of Baroda. Submit all documents mentioned in the list provided by the bank and submit them to the bank.
Student documents:
PAN card, passport, Aadhaar card, 10th, 12th Graduation all semester wise mark sheet, degree certificate, entrance exam Scorecard, USA university admit letter
Co-applicant documents:
Pan Card, aadhaar card, salary slips of last 3 months, 9 Months salary a/c Bank statement and cancel the cheque, latest 2-year form 16, Electricity Property, Sale deed, Sanction layout map, the blueprint of the house property(if the house is collateral, the bank official may come to the house for LSR-Loan to Security Ratio to calculate the loan liability).
3. HDFC Credila:
The interest rate for collateral loans starts at 8.5% and for the non-collateral loans around 10.5%. The maximum tenure period allowed for a non-collateral loan is 12 years. The moratorium period is 6 months after the course completion or once you are employed (whichever is earlier). The simple interest due every month can be serviced to the co-applicant. Minimum processing fee of 1%. The processing fee can be negotiated.. No margin amount.
Documents required for non-collateral loan:
Fully Completed Application Form, Photographs, Photo ID, Residence Proof, Academic Documents, Proof of Admission, Bank Statements, Income Proof of Co-Applicant, Immovable Property Document

4. ICICI
The interest rate for collateral loans starts at 11%. The maximum tenure period allowed for a non-collateral loan is 12 years. The moratorium period is 12 months after the course completion or once you are employed (whichever is earlier). The maximum loan amount for non-collateral is around Rs. 40 lacs. The maximum loan amount for collateral is Rs. 1 crore. The minimum processing fee is around 1%. The margin amount is 15%
5. SBI Education Loan
The interest rate starts at 7.65% for women and around 8% for men. No collateral or guarantee is required up to Rs. 7.5 lacs. Grace period: 1 year after course completion. Maximum Tenure of 15 years posts the course completion. No processing fee up to Rs. 20 lacs. Above Rs. 20 lacs, processing fee up to Rs. 10,000. The margin amount is 10%.
6. Auxilio
The interest rate varies according to the profile of the applicant. Grace period: 1 year after course completion or once you get a job whichever is earlier. Maximum Tenure of 10 years post the course completion. Processing fee 1 to 2%. No Margin amount. Pre-admission loans can be approved.
Documents:
Basic KYC (Aadhar, PAN Card) documents of the student and co-applicant, Academic Documents (SSC, HSC, Graduation, etc. whichever applicable) of the student along with a valid Passport (if availing of an education loan abroad), Income Documents of the co-applicant/s (pay-slips, bank statements, Form 16/ITR), Property Documents (if applicable)
7. Avanse
The interest rate for collateral loans starts at 9.5% and for the non-collateral loans around 10.5%. The moratorium period is 6 months after the course completion or once you are employed (whichever is earlier). Maximum Tenure of 15 years. An applicant avails of a minimum loan of Rs. 10 lacs and a maximum of Rs. 75 lacs for international education. Processing fee 1 to 2%. Margin Money is not required. Pre-admission loans can be approved.

KYC of the applicant, all educational documents, KYC of co-borrower, income documents of co-borrower, collateral documents
