Can i hold multiple i20 and then go on to select one i20 at the time of visa interview and surrender

Can i hold multiple i20 and then go on to select one i20 at the time of visa interview and surrender the other i20 back to the university? Or is it strictly just one i20 one can hold, locking you to the university whose i20 you possess? What if one university gives i20 much earlier and the dream university comes up with i20 possibilities much later? What solutions for this problem?

You will have to mention i20 details in your Visa application (like sevis Id, uni name, uni address, person if contact, school code, etc). So, you can only get VISA for the i20 that you used to fill the VISA application. If you want to change the University and is another i20 then you will have to apply for VISA again.
