VO: Hi, how are you? Passport please.
ME: I'm good. (Hand over the passport. Too nervous to ask him how he is)
VO: Why are you going to the US?
ME: To do my Master's in Computer Science.
VO: Ah, Master's. Your I20 please.
(I hand it over, he keeps typing)
VO: Have you paid your SEVIS fee?
ME: Yeah.
VO: Are you sure?
(Just when I was starting to say yep) Nahh I'm just kidding (Laughs)I was smiling too. Got rid of my nerves.
VO: Why this particular university? Is it cause of the skiing in Boulder? (He was mimicking skiing and grinning)
ME: I was smiling cause of his mimicking, and then I told him no, skiing's not the reason. It's cause CU Boulder has courses that align with my interests, and they have a smaller breadth requirement.
VO: What will you do after MS?
ME: I'll be coming back here and working for an IT company, specifically for a role that aligns with the interests I mentioned
VO: How many universities did you apply to?
ME: 10 universities.
VO: (Smiling) Wow that's a lot!
ME: (Smiling) Yeah, I know.
VO: So how many of those were admits?
ME: Told him 3, and named them. Said I haven't heard back from 1.
VO: So how will you fund your education?
ME: My parents will sponsor it.
VO: What do your parents do?
ME: My dad is retired now. Till 10 months back he worked for XX as AA. My mom works for an NGO.
VO: Tell me about your GRE score report.
ME: 330
VO: Whoa! Really? (He was smiling and shaking his head from side to side)
ME: (Grinning*) Yeah, really.
VO: (Still smiling, still shaking his head from side to side like gosh how can you get a score like that)
ME: (Still grinning)Thanks.
VO: So you obviously don't have any backlogs right?
ME: Nope.
VO: Obviously, why did I even ask
VO: (Hands i20 back) Enjoy your studies. Have a good day.
ME: Thanks, you too!
VO: My wife is from Boulder. We go there every year.....(and he said some more things)
I wasn't listening any more. Was too relieved to listen. I just said "Oh really? Oh yeah?" Something like that, till he finished.
The interview was around 3 minutes I think.
All the process before that took around 45 minutes, from the time I stood in the queue outside the consulate.
