- International First-Year Students
- Official School transcripts
- Currently enrolled classes and grades (if possible)
- Previous 2-3 years of classes and grades (depending on country)
- A-Level or IB advanced credit (if enrolled or completed)
Transcripts must be in English. If not, each document must include a certified English translation.
- Official test scores*
English proficiency is a requirement for all international students. This can be demonstrated by submitting a test score or meeting one of the four English exemptions.
- SAT or ACT test

- There are 4 conditions for being exempt from taking a standardized test to demonstrate your English proficiency.
*SAT or ACT is optional.
- Submit a letter of recommendation (optional)
A letter of recommendation is preferred but optional to complete an undergraduate first-year application. A letter of recommendation is a document that highlights a student's character traits, classroom and academic strengths, and work ethic to aid them in their application process. The person that writes the recommendation should be a school guidance counselor, teacher, coach, or job/volunteer supervisor. Parents and other family members cannot write a student's letter.
- International Transfer Students (All the processes are the same as above) additional information are as follows:
- Official transcripts should be sent to the university by your school official via email or in the mail. These must be in English. If your transcripts need translated into English, we recommend sending them to an official translation service that will then send them to UC for a small fee.
- Send your university transcripts to a member of the National Association of Credit Evaluators. This is a required step.
- Please have the evaluator send the original, official university transcripts and the course-by-course evaluation to the university.
- We recommend SpanTran because they offer discounted prices for University of Cincinnati applicants and have a fast turnaround time of 5-10 days.
- If you would rather send your transcripts directly to University of Cincinnati and have international admissions staff authenticate them and send them to SpanTran, please complete the following steps:
- Send your official transcripts by mail directly to the International Admissions Office address:

- Have the university email the transcripts directly to International.Admissions@uc.edu.
- Complete the online application for SpanTran course-by-course (with GPA) foreign credential evaluation.
- In the application, please choose Option 1: "The University of Cincinnati has received my official documents and my evaluation is for their internal use only; no verification is needed, and I will not receive a copy of my evaluation."
- If you are not sending your official transcripts to the University of Cincinnati, please do not select Option 1. Select option 2 or 3 depending on if you would like SpanTran to verify the authenticity of your transcripts on your behalf for an extra cost.
- Scan and email your photo ID to intake@spantran.com. You will receive an emailed receipt and an ID number from SpanTran.
- Forward this receipt email directly to jason.chambers@uc.edu and we will submit your official transcripts electronically to SpanTran for evaluation.
