Psychology Conversion Courses in the UK
This is part 2 of my previous post, here’s the link:
A Psychology Conversion Course is intended to give students with a pre-professional accreditation equal to a bachelor's degree in psychology. It is an intensive course for those who have graduated from university in a subject other than psychology. Students interested in pursuing a psychology conversion course may be recent graduates in another subject, or they may have graduated in the past and have subsequent years of work experience, where they may have developed an interest in psychology as a result of their work or life experiences. Graduates of such a programme can pursue postgraduate studies and specialize in a particular field. The main advantage of doing the conversion course is that it makes you eligible for GBC (Graduate Basis Chartership) which is an essential step towards becoming a professional psychologist in the UK.
The teaching is based so as to fundamentally develop research skills and techniques specifically tailored to the field of psychology, through a combination of lectures, research experience, laboratory work, and more, preparing them to move on to the next stage of their professional training.
Now, let’s look at some of the high ranked universities in UK for a MSc Psychology Conversion programmes (No particular order):
1) Edinburgh University (Scotland)
2) Glasgow University (Scotland)
3) Cardiff University (Wales)
4) University College London (England)
5) Exeter University (England)
Some universities like Northumbria also offer fast track graduation after the conversion course while some universities offer conversion courses in specific courses like University of Sheffield offers and MSc Educational Psychology conversion.
