What are some popular myths about the application filling and admission process?

Hey Sid,

Some of the myths I had in my head before I started my application process was:

1. Having a solid SOP: While it is true that we need to have a 80% drafter SOP, you would be shocked by how much you keep updating it wrt the university and course you are applying! So my suggestion would be to have a 3rd revision draft, after that, start your process, don't worry about it being perfect!

2. The earlier you apply the sooner you will get the results: This might be true in some cases, but mostly universities would wait for the deadline to start processing the applications. The sooner you apply, your application would reach them sooner, but their decision would reach you after months! (I know few of them waiting from 6 months now). So remember to have a lot of patience while applying early. Also, don't be very late (like 1 week before deadline). Have a time schedule and go ahead with it. If applying sooner would put you to ease, do so and shift your attention to other things in hand.

3. Having all documents ready: Again this is more like having an overview of all the docs that are required. You can find that in the course website of the university, but after that, just start applying! Go to the application link and just start the process! You need not even have your credit on the first day. Just fill in your personal details, you will get a knack of it and start the smooth sailing process. Start by dipping your toes in!
