@RamSee Hi Ram,

There are a lot of factors which led to me choosing University of Kentucky over University of Maryland- College Park.

1) Probably the most influential reason was that I was getting a full scholarship plus a stipend at Kentucky, as opposed to nothing from Maryland.

2) I was contacted by a Professor from Kentucky who was interested to take me in as a PhD student. The professor's research profile closely aligned with what I wanted to do for my doctorate degree. On the other hand, had I chosen Maryland, I would have to search for a PhD guide after arriving in Maryland, which can get really tricky at times.

3) Kentucky has a very good Mechanical Engineering program and the research opportunities are highly exciting.
