Mike can do a piece of work in 60 hours. If he takes his son with him and both work together then the work is finished in 40 hours. How many hours will the son take to do the same job, if he worked alone on the job?

A. 20

B. 60

C. 100

D. 120

E. 130

Hello Varun, The answer is option D. LCM of 60 and 40 is 120 Let 120 units of work be done Work done by the Man working alone = 120/60 = 2 units/hour Work done by the Man + Son working together = 120/40 = 3 units/hour Work done by the son working alone = 3 - 2 = 1 unit/hour Therefore to do 120 units, son would require 120/1 = 120 hours Hope this helps.
