How to individualize personal statements to schools?

So all of the personal statement advice I see says to personalize each statement to the school and make it clear you've researched the program. However, beyond not copy and pasting a statement and maybe name-dropping some faculty, how do you do this? Most programs I'm applying to are pretty similar, they focus on the field I want and they have good interdisciplinary programs. How do I make it clear I've looked into the program without being generic or overly complimentary (i.e. this is the best program ever)?
