Findings internships in USA

The US is without a doubt a nation of opportunity and invention. Graduates globally want to broaden their horizons and upgrade their resumes with an internship in the US. Students from a wide range of academic fields wish to collaborate with the top researchers in their fields. Young people have a wealth of options in the US to hone their skills and launch prosperous professions. Whether you're interested in media and broadcasting, fashion, health, management, or artificial intelligence and big data - USA never disappoints hardworking and dedicated students looking to land lucrative career-building opportunities.

- How to Find an Internship in the United States?
Utilizing the strength of your social and online networks is crucial for locating successful internships overseas. Businesses and company executives are more likely to hire young people they know or who have been recommended by reliable sources. Candidates who are referred always have a better probability of getting the internship. You can investigate a variety of options online, but make sure to use up all of your US networks first. Don't give up if you can't obtain any recommendations. There’s also several online platforms that will facilitate your search for a career-making internship abroad.

These include:
- Glassdoor
- Go Overseas
- LinkedIn
- The Intern Group
- USA Internships
- Internships.com
- Internmatch.com
- YouTern
- Fulbright Program

Tip: Before applying, have someone else review your CV like someone from the career service center!

- For F-1 Visa holders
Can F-1 students do internships? Yes! With an F-1 student visa, the primary purpose of your travel to the US is to complete a degree program at an accredited university or college. This visa allows you to apply for an internship in the USA for international students, with assistance from your university. Keep in mind that some programs may even require an internship as part of your program, in the form of Curricular Practical Training (CPT). You are only permitted to work on campus during the current academic term while you are on an F-1 visa USA internship, which limits your working hours to a maximum of 20 per week. You may work off campus with your university's approval.
You must have finished your first year of college and your internship must be relevant to your degree programme in order to qualify for CPT. To start an internship in America, you must also submit an application for CPT permission and get a new I-20 form. You can also apply for Optional Practical Training once your degree programme is over (OPT). With the approval of US Citizenship and Immigration Services, OPT enables you to work full time in the US for up to 12 months. With a STEM-related degree, you can request up to two additional years of OPT!

- For J-1 Visa holders
Typically, J-1 students are enrolled in exchange visitor programmes that focus on employment or study and are sanctioned by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. While J-1 students are not eligible for OPT, they are eligible for Academic Training (AT) for up to 18 months following graduation in an area associated with their programme. You can apply for a J-1 Intern or J-1 Trainee visa if you want to complete an internship in the United States for foreign students without enrolling in a degree programme. Remember that most companies require you to be enrolled in a college or university or to have just graduated in order to qualify for internship positions. Having a degree and prior work experience may be prerequisites for trainee positions.
Since J-1 students are required to be sponsored by a recognised educational or other nonprofit institution, your sponsor may be able to help you find internship opportunities. A placement for an internship may be part of your programme with some sponsors, whilst other sponsors may offer this as a service for an additional cost.

All the best! :)
