Visa Interview Experience:

Now before I share my experience I would tell that the rejection rate of visa have increased so don't take it lightly make your first attempt count.

The VO was a lady in her early 30's rejected a visa right before me.
VO: Good morning!
ME
: Good morning ma'am! Wish you a happy new year!.

VO: Happy new year, pass me the passport and I-20.
What other college's did you apply to other than Southern Methodist University (SMU)?
ME:
San Jose State University (SJSU)

VO: Did you get an admit from there too?
ME:
No ma'am, my application is still under review.

VO: Why didn't you wait for SJSU? You should have waited for it to reply and then decided on the college you want to go to.
ME:
Ma'am I did wait for SJSU, I checked their portal a multiple times but they haven't replied back yet with their decision.
Also ma'am I decided to select SMU mainly because of 3 reasons:

  1. They offer specialisation in wireless networks which is my area of interest
  2. The student to faculty ratio of SMU is 11:1 which is excellent.
  3. The courses are updated every year.

Also the alumni feedback is very good.

VO: (She seemed impressed here) That's good, what does your dad do?
ME:
He is going business from the past 17 years in XX field.

VO: How many people work under him?
ME:
XX

VO: Do you have an education loan?
ME:
Yes, I have a loan of XX lacs from SBI

VO: How much liquid assets does he have?
ME:
He has liquid assets worth XX lacs, immovable property assets worth RS XX lacs.

VO: Okay and then she made me wait for around 2-3 minutes closed her window, was talking to her colleagues and was checking something on the PC and then came the golden words "Congratulations, your visa is approved".
ME: Thank you ma'am, walked back with a smiling face.
