It does not matter if you are late by 15 minutes because they still allow you in the line but I will advise everybody to be on time.
- They take your fingerprints and photo and you are done for the day.
- Remember to take only your docs, wallet(no coins) and an umbrella if needed because they won't allow anything else.
- Bags, electronics, storage devices and metals are not allowed.
Visa interview:
-Carry documents and umbrella
-Arrive well before time I arrived an hour early. It was a busy day at the consulate so I had to wait in
line and at the waiting hall for about 2 and a half hours.
-Keep your passport, I-20 and sevis fee receipt handy.
Documents asked were I-20, Passport and Sevis fee.
What I gained from the experience is that the interview lasts for about a minute or so and it gets over in a flash. Take a deep breath before approaching the counter and speak calmly. Always smile!
The VO just wanted to know whether I had sufficient funds to sustain my education and life over there. Explain your financials accurately and without hesitation. I had taken an education loan and I told about that only at the end. Never give any unnecessary information just answer to the point.
She also asked me about the other universities that I applied to and how many acceptances I got.
That's it! All the best!
