IELTS or TOEFL....which one to choose?

Could someone just explain me which one would be better to take considering acceptance in universities / easy to score / faster result announcement / etc?  
  Also if you have some other examination to consider (for english), please let me know and why

A major difference between TOEFL vs IELTS exams is with the pattern of the Speaking section. The IELTS speaking test is conducted face-to-face with an examiner and she/he would determine your speaking score.  Also, the IELTS speaking test may not be on the same day as the rest of the exam.

In the case of TOEFL you have to answer the given questions using a microphone. These are then recorded and later sent to the reviewers.

So, choose the exam type and pattern you will be most comfortable with.

Both TOEFL and IELTS scores are widely accepted as proof of English proficiency across the globe. Acceptance won't be dependent on which exam you give. Take any exam at the test center and not at home. Some students have reported that the scores at home get canceled sometimes if any fraud is suspected. Don't go for Duolingo, only some universities accept it. Duolingo will limit your ability to apply to universities.

It depends on which country you're planning, for USA dulingo is enough.
