since everyone has been talking about the vast cost differences here is the detailed cost analysis:

MS CS (General) at USC requires 28 credits

Total tuition is 28 * 2000 = 56k $ (approx) = 36L INR

MS CS at NCSU requires 31 credits

Total tuition is 31 * 1866 = 58k $ (approx) = 37.6L INR

So NCSU actually has a higher tuition cost than USC. And the living in NCSU will be a bit cheaper than that of USC. But basically both are of comparable cost.

If someone has to actually compare these two universities they should focus more on the academics or research options rather than blindly considering cost (that too wrongly assumed) and take an informed decision. 

Also, everyone should check the websites themselves/ talk to seniors at those universities rather than asking in a general group to save themselves from half baked information and get a clear and realistic picture of things!

@neha_aspirant The tuition fees of NCSU is 2k more than USC. The per month living costs at NCSU are around 700$ and at USC around 900$. so the overall cost difference will be approximately 3k$. I would not call it "way more costlier" than NCSU

Also there are tricks in distributing the credits you take up per semester at ncsu which makes the fees considerably lesser

Maybe ncsu fees is lesser by about 6k usd. That's negligible on the long run, so maybe just go to the college with better coursework and jobs in your area of interest

Taking up more than 9 credits in a semester. Any credit over 9 is free of cost. So yeah you get my point

I swear !! Yocket shows UMN fee structure as 15k, while actually it’s over twice that amount (31k). Now I regret not applying to USC

How does USC fee compare with NCSU? The living cost is no doubt crazy high, but at the same time it’s easier to bag an internship in USC ...atleast in my field of interest.

Generally people go for a 9+12+9. So instead of 30 credits ...you’ll be paying for 27. Accordingly you can bring down your fee further

@antsyankit In 2016, it was $ 15k for each semester. If you take 3 credit each and complete in 3 semesters, then it will come around $ 45k. So more if you take entire two years. Living will come around 4k per year if you share apartment. You can check on ncsu website regarding the fees for this year and compare. Hope this helps

Dont know about UMN but USC is definitely way more costlier than NCSU. Living costs twice fold than North Carolina.
