I had a chance to speak to some folks at UIUC and they said that the admissions team looks at your entire profile. Work experience, grades, who wrote your letter of recommendations and your SOP. GRE is a minute criteria. If you are in the 79th percentile for quantitative you have nothing to worry about.

At the end of the day the only person that can tell you of you are going to get admitted would be the admissions team. I feel like I totally wasted my time on yocket because apart from the virtual fairs and the ability to see who got admitted where, it doesn't make any difference. Email whichever professor you feel would like to take you in as an assistant

It would but it has to be in line with your career aspirations. No point feeding the homeless or rescuing dogs and cats if you are going for an MSC in engineering

Generally speaking Canadian universities are not as competitive in admissions as American ones are. If you intend to go to Europe consider TU Delft, Imperial, Bristol. I did my bachelors in Bristol. It is quite a good program. Loads of opportunities for work in engineering in the uk contrary to popular belief. And you have a decent amount to time after graduation to look for a job. 60% of students get a job before graduation!

There aren't many that I would recommend. If you are looking for a job after graduation ONLY look at uk if Imperial UCL and Bristol are going to take you in. Look up EPSRC and search for eee research projects and approach the project investigators then you are bound to get in.

Like I mentioned before, I can make an educated Guess but it's of no use. I would say a cgpa of 7.5 would be decent. Work experience is important as well if you have graduated 6 months or more ago. I understand. Canada is not as competitive as the us but that being said you have to sell yourself in the SOP and your letters. Don't do TOP badly on the gre. Just make sure you get a 160+ on the quantitative. Good luck. I'm waiting on my applications as well. Only place I applied in Canada was u Toronto because they have Research areas similar to my interests and work experience. Have you been working or just graduated?

Hi vikram, what's your intended path? CS has different streams of specialisation. Also read my post above. Bear in mind that GRE plays a minuscule role in admissions. You are assess as a whole. Low GPA is offset by related work experiences and your letters of recommendation.

Ok thanks for the info. You should consider Case Western Reserve, NC State, Iowa, Arizona State as safe and moderate choices. Aim between the top 25-50 programs if rankings are important to you. Michigan state would be something you should be able to get as well. You need to look at who does research that you're interested in if you want funding. A good rule of thumb is to apply to 2 ambitious colleges 5 moderate and 3 Safe Programs. Sell yourself that is important

Yeah sure. Yash i could make a Guess but what type of Ms would you be doing. A research oriented masters requires good scores, good recommendations and work experience. A professional msc doesn't require a gre. Your gre math is lower than an average science and engineering quant score. You Should get at least to 80th percentile that's a good score to have. Read my post above and you'll know everything there is to know.

If anyone was wondering, I myself am applying to do an msc, however I have been interning every year I my undergraduate life in well established engineering companies and I am currently an rnd engineer at Rolls Royce in Singapore.  I'm also mentoring Mechanical and aerospace engineering students in the university that I work at. All of you should get admitted to at least a few universities but the goal should be in my opinion to get to the best possible program in the field of your interest. The best way to do this is to look at your profile and ask yourself why you should get the admission over someone who way have had better grades than you. That's where your sop and lors come into play. If you have had bad grades make up for them with work experience.gre scores shouldn't be too Low. Be within 4 points of the average scores, and Make up or opt to make up for bad grades with classes on campus of your prospective university.
