I disagree with the above comment because I have friends in the exact courses/clgs in question. The job opportunities after both, SE and CS, are same. If you are looking for the general SWE roles then the sjsu course has an upper hand because of the location and the indyrelevance of the course. In the end everything boils down to knowledge, but I am saying the general trend is that people in sjsu are getting better calls for interviews. Again, I say this so strongly because my friends in sjsu SE who went in fall’18 have got internships in hand while the ones in Syracuse haven’t, and their level of knowledge is comparable.  If you had admits from better colleges in CS then it would have been a different discussion altogether. Though, if you want to go into research then its a different aspect and taking a CS program is obviously the right direction.

And the cost between the two is also quite similar, since the tution at sjsu is very low which compensates the high living costs

Please check the course of Syracuse it's limited. If u like the course then u should go ahead with it else Sjsu

Both have great prospects... but according to me going into a core CS domain has better prospects than SE. i know SJSU’s SE is reputed, but i would anyday go with CS. Since you will have broader areas of specialization.

Then decide for yourself bro. Check the curriculum of both and all the possible courses they both provide. Go for the ones where your interest aligns the most.

@kp5115 you have to think about how do you want to build your professional career. If you look at the course structure of both these universities, Syracuse CS is a broader course and is essentially a superset of the coursework at SJSU Software Engineering course. If you are strictly focused about building your profile in the software industry, then you can opt for the course at SJSU. My suggestion would be to go for Syracuse. If you are looking to take the most out of the job market in the US, you are better placed as a CS grad than SE grad. Cost of living in San Jose can be quite high as well.
