The most common myths about studying abroad!

1 - I dont know the native language - This is a common misconception. English is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. This is the least of your worries. As long as you are able to speak, read and write in English, then you will be okay. However, you shouldn't let lack of skills in a language stop you from studying in a particular country. 2 - Studying abroad is expensive - No doubt that studying in abroad is generally higher than studying in India. The expenses will vary depending on various factors such as the University, duration of the course, location and so on. So, once you have decided where you want to study and what course you’ll opt for, the next thing you can do is to calculate the course fees and living costs and then look for the available scholarships. 3 - Only the Rich One’s Can Afford to Study Abroad - With a little extra work and careful planning, studying abroad can actually be very affordable. Apply early for financial aid and scholarships. Once you do a bit of research, you'll find there's a wealth of affordable options. 4 - Not feeling safe going to another country - The International Universities comprehend the concern for safety and therefore, they have strict protocols to ensure the students’ safety every time. Universities Rank Student Safety as Top Priority. Before leaving for your new college, study the school’s campus safety measures. Find out whom to consult in case of a situation of campus bullying. Approach the school authorities or the local police for issues related to racial abuse or terrorism. 5 - Making friends while studying abroad will be too hard - This totally depends on you. The world is your playground, and you have to choose what you want to do. you will be ushered into your circle of peers through orientation programs and various team building activities. Even before you realise, you’ll be part of your clique. Universities abroad recognize the need to make their international students feel at home. 6 - Potential employer don’t value study abroad - Your potential employers might not outright say that they prefer people who were international students. However, the employer will definitely going to value your foreign degree If you can prove to the employer that you have the required skills that the organization is seeking for. They will be interested to see how your foreign degree can assist their organization in the long run. As more and more companies work across borders and cultures, a degree from a foreign university on your resume will keep you a step ahead of the competition in the job market. 7 - Only toppers get scholarships- Not True, It’s Challenging, But Not Impossible. There are two kinds of scholarships available for international students. Merit-based and Need-based. Also, you can avail scholarships sponsored by few global, national, regional organisations, and financial institutions. 8 - You’ll graduate late if you study abroad - This partly depends on how seriously you take your studies and partly on the destination you choose to study at. 9 - My Major Isn’t Offered Abroad - Don’t make this mistake of jumping to final decision without doing a proper research! Search for the major that suits you best and filter your results country and qualification level wise. You can pursue any course abroad. You can do your majors for almost every subject. 10 - Its all about party and fun - It’s not about partying and having fun when you are studying in abroad rather it’s about learning new things, studying, and building valuable skills. No doubt, you’ll get enough opportunities to relax and have fun over your course of stay in any of the foreign countries you go to but studying abroad is not about having fun all the time. The universities have strict rules about attendance and grades. 11 - Indian Students Get Neglected - To a great extent, the media is responsible for creating a misunderstanding about Indians. At colleges, professors are more like mentors than teachers; very approachable and eager to help students resolve issues related to academics or otherwise. Studying abroad is all about challenging yourself with unfamiliar situations and experiences. Perhaps study abroad is not for you, and if that’s the case, it’s okay. But if you’re saying “no” due to any one of these misperceptions, do your research before you decide not to go. These are just some common misconceptions that I wanted you to get straight.
