Toefl score of 82 is good enough to get u in that universities in which u satisfy their min toefl req. Its just a basic criteria , a way to filter people that's it.

Suppose u and other guy have similar profiles and only toefl score is diff, then they might choose the person with higher toefl score, but this happens rarely.
