Interview experience Date: 21 Nov In time : 10:00 AM Out time : 12:00 PM Consulate : Mumbai University : Santa Clara university Result : Approved Counter : 35 - American young male VO: Good Morning, Pass me your docs Me: Good Morning officer, Passed VO: So how many unis have you applied to ? Me: 5 universiti.. (interrupted) VO: Which ones ? Me: Santa Clara, GWU, NEU boston, UT dallas, SUNY.. (interrupted) - ( I told fullforms) VO: Why this particular uni (pointing at i20) Me: Because the course curriculum of santa clara has very precise and unique subjects like Autonomous driving system, pattern recognition, data mining.. (interrupted) VO: Who is funding you ? Me: My father VO : What is his job ? Me : He heads training & development department in a pharma company named XXX (interrupted) VO : Please wait this system is frozen.. ( patiently waited for 5-7 mins ) VO : place your right hand four fingers, your visa is approved Me : Thank you Tips : The atmosphere inside is quite distracting and not so serious. Try to be calm and composed and keep repeating your answers in your mind - mainly subjects name, funding amount etc. Do not fumble or take a pause in initial 1-2 questions. Fluent english plays a major role. Even if you are not fluent and taking pauses, they give enough chances to prove yourself. All mumbai visa officers were similar, no emotions on their face, highly professional but helpful (by giving more chances to answer if you fumble or dont speak fluently)
