Lets say even if visa appointment opens up, given the number of cases in usa, its unlikely going to be 0 cases by july. Students who are already there are waiting to come back. What will we go for? What if we get infected on landing at Chicago for example?

No updates, as yet. but it's too early to say anything about the admissions getting cancelled. we should wait till June to have a clearer perspective of the situation.

@Ashirwadyadav Nopes, admission would never get cancelled. 

Just to give a perspective,  visa interviews at any consulate highly depends on host nations' 
position and strategy on COVID-19.  In case of India, for now country-wide lockdown is being followed and is expected to be extended up to April 30, 2020, hence the visa appointments are temporarily unavailable. 

So , lets  wait  for some good announcement from the Indian government on lifting of lockdown. I am (in best case scenario) expecting visa slots to open in India in the first week of May 2020. Time to pray and be optimistic. Cheers.

PS: I checked the USCIS website. Visa interviews are currently ongoing in consulates of our neighboring countries (Dhaka consulate - 16 days waiting time for F-1 visa; Colombo consulate - 7 days waiting time for F-1 visa)
