The University of Dusseldorf (Heinrich Heine) is better known as Heinrich Heine University Dusseldorf (HHU). Duesseldorf Medical Academy was founded in 1907 and was succeeded by this new organization, HHU, in 1965. The university has been named after the German poet Heinrich Heine. The university has undergone several expansion phases over decades. More than 36,500 students, more than 2250 academic staff, and more than 1400 administrative staff. Since 1993 it has been involved with five faculties principally: the faculty of business administration and economics; The faculty of mathematics and natural sciences; the faculty of arts and humanities; the faculty of law; and the Faculty of Medicine.
