19th Annual Fraud Summit – Internal Auditing Excellence Program (IAEP) at The University of Texas at Dallas
The Center for Internal Auditing Excellence at the Naveen Jindal School of Management (The University of Texas at Dallas also known as UTD) hosted the 19th Annual Fraud Summit on March 21, 2024, and March 22, 2024, highlighted the importance of fraud detection & prevention. Featured speakers at the event included Leah Wietholter, MBA, CFE, PI, CPA, CEO of Workman Forensics, Margie Bastolla, CIA, and Anthony J. Pugliese, CIA, CPA, CGMA, CITP, President & CEO of The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) The two-day summit also offers continuing professional education through different workshops and a general conference. The workshop offers 8 hours of CPE credit, and the conference offers another 8 hours of CPE credits. Using a combination of professional experience and case studies, the speakers provided insight on how to assess risk exposures based on factors such as industry, business type, import/export, state of internal controls, reduced budgets, and a distributed workforce. Furthermore, they discussed proactive measures to stay in line with evolving industry trends and emerging threats. Students at The University of Texas at Dallas enjoy complimentary access to the summit as a member of the UTD IIA Student Chapter. 40+ students eagerly volunteered to support event management, leveraging this opportunity to connect with professionals from various sectors and organizations.
