Universities offer a wide range of their flagship programs and courses during the fall intake.
Fall offers more opportunities for students in terms of scholarships and financial aid.

The timeline for study abroad application starts an entire year in advance. This means that if you want to start your course in Fall 2022, you should start preparing in 2021 itself. Now, you may need the entire year of 2021 to prepare as you have to get a lot done.
In this section we’ll be highlighting the steps and the timeline to help you smoothly sail through the process of your MS admission!
There are a few exams that you need to give in order to apply abroad.
●English Proficiency Exam
This could be IELTS, TOEFL or PTE exam. These exams are needed in order to apply to any country (where English is the native language), not just the US. These signify that you are good at communicating in english and will be able to cope up with the classes and everyday conversations at your university. They are pretty simple and test your basic knowledge of English Language. Every university requires a student to have a minimum score to be eligible to apply for its programs. In general, you need to score 100+ on TOEFL or 6.5+ on IELTS.
A few pointers to remember when taking the exam for fall intake in US, are:
You can reappear for these exams as many times as you like to, however, it would cost you that many times.
●Standardised Admission Exams
The other exam needed for master’s admission is the GRE or GMAT exam. These exams play a very important role in your application. The higher the score, the better chance you have at getting an admit from the university of your choice. These exams test your quantitative and logical reasoning.
A few pointers to remember when taking the exam for fall intake are:
You can take these exams multiple times, however, it is not recommended to take these exams more than twice. It is time consuming and very expensive.
NOTE: As you may already know, you need to send the scores of all your competitive exams officially through the organization. This process can take anywhere between one to three weeks. Therefore, you should keep a three-week buffer between the date you submit your scores and the application deadline.
In order to submit your application, you need to submit your academic documents. These include your semester wise marksheets, degree certificates (or provisional certificates in case your degree hasn’t been issued yet) and transcripts.
Your transcripts need to be generated by the university itself. It should be scanned for your reference, as well as sealed and stamped by the registrar of your university.
Some universities may have specific criteria for transcript uploading or submission, you will find those details on the university’s website. For MS admissions, some US universities require you to submit WES evaluations of your transcripts or marksheets.
Now, a lot of applicants are still in their final year of study when they start applying. In this case, you will specify that you have transcripts of only the first two (or three) years of study and that the final year mark sheets will be submitted by you when you attend the university the following year.
In your application, you will also need to specify 2-3 recommenders. These recommenders can be your professors, managers, people you have worked under, etc. For students without any work experience, all the recommenders can be professors, or managers who they worked under during internships.
For working professionals, at least one should be the recommendation of a manager or team lead. It may take time to get recommendation letters, therefore make sure you have them ready well before Fall admissions begin in late August.
Other documents that you will need include your passport, resume, etc. The documents needed will be specified on the course page on the university website. Go through the list of documents needed and keep them ready by the end of July.
Your essay is an integral part of your application. It can make or break your entire profile.
Some applications want you to answer certain questions in your essays and they specify so in their application forms. Some applications may even require you to submit multiple essays.
B-school applications also have interviews in their admissions process, but these are usually later. You can read about this process here.
All application forms and portals are mentioned on the course webpage or on the university’s website. You should fill the application form very diligently and make sure you make no mistakes while filling the form.
You can also check course wise Fall and Spring application deadlines of US universities here. Make note of these deadlines and make sure to apply well before.
Once you have submitted all your documents and completed the application form, all you can do now is wait!
