Visa Interview Experience:

VO was a guy in his 40's...he had rejected a guy before me.

VO: Good morning, please pass me your passport and i20.
ME: Good morning officer (handed over the documents)

VO: So what other universities did you apply to?
ME: I applied to university of Illinois Chicago apart fron northeastern.

VO: Did you get an admit from the other school?
ME: No officer.

VO: Have you been refused a visa before?
ME: Yes.

VO: Where did you apply? Here in Chennai?
ME: Yes sir.

VO: What has changed since your last interview?
ME: I have added my mother as my sponsorer.

VO: Why Northeastern?
ME: Northeastern University provides 8 specialisation tracks in Information system. One among them is healthcare information systems which I intend to specialize in.

VO: Why do want to do MS?
ME: I have been working in healthcare domain from past 2.5 years and I aim to apply for more challenging roles.

VO: So you have to quit your job and join school?
ME: Yes.

VO: How are you going pay for school?
ME: My parents have savings of 53 lakhs and I have taken a secure education loan.

VO: Oh, so you have taken a loan?
ME: Yes.

VO: What's the amount?
ME: 44 lakhs.

VO: What does your parents do?
ME: My mother is a government officer who is working as a xx in xx department and my father is a retired government official who was working as a xx in xx department.

VO: What's your mother's annual income?
ME: 6 lakhs per annum (this was mentioned in the CA certificate where only net income is considered as per last year's IT returns, it was around 8.5 lakhs this year)

VO: Started typing and after 30s, I am sorry but you are not eligible for an US visa right now and handed me the blue slip with 214b first check box checked.
ME: May I know the reason sir?

VO: Under the section 214b, you are not eligible and I can tell you only that.
I left the counter disappointed.
