ASU IT VS University of Maryland College Park SE

Hello there Anvi,

I can give you an insight of the universities in general. According to the rankings when considered,

US News:

University of Maryland
#59 in National Universities (tie) • College Park, MD

Arizona State University
#117 in National Universities (tie) • Tempe, AZ

QS Rankings:

University of Maryland • College Park, MD #158
Arizona State University • Tempe, AZ #216

However, considering the location and the courses you have chosen, job prospects and oppurtunities would be better in ASU when compared to UMCP as ASU is near to California ( A state with loads of IT firms). That does not mean you would have no oppurtunities in UMCP.

It's an individual choice to make which stream is more particular for you and then take up the decision.

Hi,

UMCP SE is a great option.

SE at UMCP has a great technical coursework so its going for SE is not a bad choice. SE will kinda limit you to applying for only a subset of available positions but if you select the right electives you are open to other roles as well.

Because ASU IT is provided by the Polytechnic campus, you will not be able to fully utilise the resources provided by the Tempe campus. The professors will be different.

Rankings,
UMCP has a great alumni network and better rankings in all major index.

Go with UMCP SE.
