3. CMU - (applied for masters in HCI, got a reject, but got an admit for another course - METALS (Masters in Educational Technology and Applied Learning Science Program)
4. USC - MS in CS

Rejects:
1. UWash - MS in HCI+D
2. NCSU - MS in CS

Still waiting:
1. Gatech - MS in HCI

My interest is primarily in HCI than general CS. Need some suggestions regarding above universities if anyone has any pointers or has opted for the same stream.

2 relevant research projects in HCI (Final year project, one as side project at work)
No papers.
Good Sop, Lors. Bunch of extra-curriculars in arts and languages.
2 years work exp with Microsoft as s/w engineer.

Scott Klemmer WAS the reason applied there! But it has HCI more as a specialization rather than a dedicated program, so I'm not sure how focused it would be. Umich on the otherhand is a dedicated program for HCI.

So UCSD rolls out admits in two rounds. One Jan-end-Feb and the other round around march end. Yours would come in the second round hopefully! Good luck.

Good point. In the current situation I'm thinking along the same lines. Although Gatech is the dream for me. Keeping fingers crossed for that one. But Michigan is a good option currently. Do let me know about your decision!

Without the scholarship, attending Umich is improbable for me. I am waiting for UW (waitlisted) and GaTech. Else, HCI/d at IUB it is. :)

I'd personally say "UCSD", mostly because its CS with specialized "HCI", also Scott Klemmer is a brilliant professor and because it has the best location, I mean Cali is greater than any other place in US as of now.

Congrats ! In a similar kind of confusion.Except for UCSD. waiting on it. With the 40000$ scholarship U Mich becomes a very good option as it is more focussed on HCI. UCSD has a very good hci lab...obviously Scott Klemmer but since it comes through CS you wont get more than 3 credits to learn. If you get into Ga tech go for it else i would say think on U mich.

Excellent work on scoring the Umich scholarship! Congratulations!! :) Financials is the main reason for people not attending Umich. In spite of UCSD being home to Dr. Klemmer and Dr. Norman, take advantage of the Umich scholarship. Post MS, join Dr. Klemmer in the UCSD PhD program. :)

Jaee !! Congrats on the admit. I would also suggest Umich too with scholarship. I have a senior there. He is very very happy with the HCI program at Umich. UCSD is obv good bcos of Klemmar and Norman. But yea. . its more design emphasis (UX/UI). Umich gives you wider range in HCI (design + implementation like tangible media, integration with vision, graphics etc). So plus scholorship, its definitely worth it.

I am also having trouble choosing UCSD MS in CS (HCI spec) and Maryland College Park MS in HCI and IUB HCI (awaiting Georgia Tech). (profile similar to yours .. Pune University - 62%, 316(4), 107 , 1 year work ex)
